Applied Computer Science Honors 1-2
Two Semester Course
Prerequiste: Successful completion of at least three computer science courses and teacher approval
The applied computer science course is designed for students who want to do independent study in areas of computer science that interest them. Through this course students will complete individual and/or group projects and may prepare for computer competitions and/or certifications. Possible topics of study include advanced programming, robotics, video game design, video production, app development and web design. Any appropriate topic can be pursued.
Students will benefit from taking this course by learning about advanced topics in computer science, setting their own course of study, and presenting their projects to an audience. Students will learn to manage their time and conduct their own research. Students will become proficient at using the computer as a tool and synthesizing information. Certification and/or internships may be available.
